I designed this quad around the cutting-edge EMax 1806 polymer brushless motors, which are surprisingly affordable and remarkably good. In order to maximize performance from these motors, I wanted to design the lightest and least expensive quad possible. The result of this endeavor is the compact and agile Mini X Quad! This miniature marvel weighs in at just 300 grams ready to fly. Key features include: - A moderate dihedral angle of 12 degrees for increased stability and precision flight. - Folding arms that facilitate easy storage and reduce the impact of minor crashes. - Simple, no-frills construction that makes maintenance effortless and inexpensive. This quad is designed specifically for use with Acro Naze and CC3D controllers. Build one for less than $120! If you have any questions or suggestions, please post them in the comments section below; all input is greatly appreciated! For the lightest possible frame: Print at 15% infill for added durability, but for a truly minimalist design stick with the original 10% setting. Use EMax Arms for better compatibility and performance when using EMax motors. For other motor setups, the Regular Arms will likely provide a more optimal fit. Ensure two arms are mirrored to achieve proper dihedral configuration; all four arms should face inwards. Printing requirements: Chassis: 2 units Flight Controller Mount Bottom: 1 unit Flight Controller Mount Top: 1 unit Arms (unmirrored): 2 units Mirrored Arms: 2 units Landing Feet: 2 units Washers: 8 units Battery Tray: 1 unit Example build specifications: Dampening balls can be found at hobbyking.com; use these to reduce vibrations and improve overall stability. A quad setup with the EMax motors will need ESCs rated for a minimum of 12 amps; you can source these from Afro ESC Ultra Lite Motor Speed Controllers or other compatible brands. XT60 connections will ensure efficient battery attachment. Find more details at hobbyking.com. Battery straps, which keep the power pack in place, can be ordered from this website as well. EMax PM1806 motors and a ZIPPY Compact 1000mAh Lipo Pack provide an ideal combination for impressive performance. For optimized prop efficiency, install 5x4 multirotor props like those found on hobbyking.com; they come highly recommended by the Mini X Quad community. Lastly, secure all parts with countersunk M3 x 8mm screws and tighten using M3 lock nuts and button head M3 x 18mm bolts to ensure your setup is rock-solid!
