Mikoyan-Gurevich I-75 was the last in a series of three experimental swept-wing interceptors built upon the Mikoyan-Gurevich I-3 airframe, developed by the renowned Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau within the Soviet Union during the mid to late 1950s. Every aircraft within the I-3 program suffered from delays in the development of the Klimov VK-3 turbojet engine, its subsequent cancellation and final replacement by the Lyulka AL-7F turbojet engine.
