This is a high-definition model of the MiG-29K 'Fulcrum', featuring high-resolution textures and various armaments including the R-73 'Archer', R-77 'Adder', and EL/L-8222 ECM Pod. The model includes detailed, articulated rudders, flaps, canopy, landing gear, IFR probe, arrestor, and air brake. Developed by the Mikoyan design bureau in the 1970s, the MiG-29K entered service in 1983 and remains in use by the Russian Air Force and many other nations. The history of the MiG-29 began in 1969 when the Soviet Union learned of the U.S. Air Force 'FX' program, which resulted in the F-15 Eagle. The Soviet leadership soon realized that the new American fighter would represent a serious technological advance over all existing Soviet fighters. To address these concerns, the Soviet General Staff issued a requirement for a Perspektivnyi Frontovoi Istrebitel (PFI), or 'advanced tactical fighter'. Specifications called for long range, good short-field performance, excellent agility, Mach 2+ speed, and heavy armament. The aerodynamic design for the new aircraft was largely carried out by TsAGI, the Russian aerodynamics institute, in collaboration with Sukhoi.
