The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25, NATO codenamed Foxbat, is a supersonic interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft that holds the distinction of being one of the fastest military planes ever built. Conceived by the Soviet Union's renowned Mikoyan-Gurevich bureau, this impressive aircraft stands out for its primary construction from stainless steel, a rare material choice in combat aviation. The MiG-25 was Mikhail Gurevich's final design before his retirement, showcasing his mastery of aerospace engineering. The first prototype took to the skies in 1964, and after years of development, the aircraft entered military service in 1970.
