The design of the MiG-15 was spearheaded by Soviet aeronautical engineer Mikhail Gurevich. The aircraft's development began in 1946, and it made its maiden flight in December 1947. Initially designed as a high-speed jet interceptor, the MiG-15 would later see significant action during the Korean War.
