A finely crafted sword hilt. A cylindrical grip is wrapped spirally with a ribbed design, and a series of horizontal grooves adorn the rounded pommel. A leaf-shaped guard features two shell-like engravings on its upper and lower surfaces. A narrow strip of metallic cord encircles the handle. Discovered in the wreckage of the Finnish frigate St. Nikolai, sunk during the Second Battle of Svensksund in 1790.
