Middensluis Ham

"nv De Scheepvaart" is responsible for the operation of the Albert Canal locks as its manager. To plan necessary maintenance work, it organizes inspections on the infrastructure. Inspections can be carried out in wet conditions but "nv De Scheepvaart" strives to drain each lock completely every 15 years or so, performing a thorough inspection and any repairs that may be needed on the lock structure and critical components (lock gates, sills, etc.). The push lock at Wijnegem and the middle lock at Ham were recently inspected and repaired in dry conditions (mid-2015). Taking advantage of this opportunity, photogrammetric data was collected and a 3D model was created of the lock structure to provide a clear picture of the current state of the locks and to enable future comparisons with upcoming measurements.
