The hole measures 1 inch in diameter; however, a 1-inch shaft should be 0.01 inches undersized according to the ANSI standard hole system. To fit a shaft for a bearing, it can be made .990 inches in size. The mid brace is designed for a nominal 1-inch diameter protruding shaft as a gear case cover replacement. Standard 1/4-inch drilled holes enable cross braces and 1/4-inch undersized pins to fit into pockets. Six ball bearings are captured inside, ensuring free movement of the inner bearing race. The "tested for motion" ribs are offset from the center alignment due to the positioning required to support a bearing in the assembly.
