The numbers and displays on the microwave's exterior had been poorly etched from the start. On its initial cleaning, they were almost completely erased. The control knob itself felt overly slick and proved stubbornly resistant to turning. In response, I crafted a replacement with raised minute markers and a more tactile surface for easy manipulation.
