Part 2 of the Microbiology Project. Streptobacillus moniliformis is a gram-negative, facultative anaerobic bacterium that causes rat-bite fever in humans. This disease is typically spread through bites from infected rodents or exposure to contaminated water and food. The bacteria are commonly found in the gastrointestinal tracts of rats, but can also be isolated from their saliva and urine.
