Microsphone - A "pocket microscope" phone camera mount
thingiverse
This is a simple pocket microscope mount that I used to capture images of a micro-nozzle we 3D printed in SLA at the lab. [YES, I designed and printed a part to verify my 3D prints' quality!] It can be adapted for use with a microscope camera, showcasing its capabilities. I shared some photos of "common stuff" taken with this mount: 1. A phone adaptor attachment, 2. Ground tea (Chimarrão tea) dust particles on a table, 3. LED wire connections to the die, 4. Pixels of my tablet, 5. A tiny ant. This mount should work well with most phones, especially those with a centered camera in the back, and it stays steady on my phone's table stand (it doesn't tip over). You can purchase this microscope at Amazon, where I bought mine (the design may not be compatible with other models, unfortunately). I used a 3/8" x 3/4" spring to secure the hinge clamping. While it could have been replaced with a stronger one, the design worked fine as is, so I left it unchanged. The original Inventor files are available for modification if you need to adjust the spring hole mounts. If this mount proves useful and inspires you to print one, I'd love to see the images you capture with it!
