MicroSD-Length Extender & holder
thingiverse
I printed a new enclosure for my A8 board, but the micro SD slot ended up about 1.5 cm deep into the case, and the opening around it is barely big enough to get one finger in. While I could fix it, I decided a length extender was the quickest and easiest fix since I have had this issue in the past. Moreso, I have a habit of causing small objects to vanish when not looking, so enlarging the size of the micro SD seems beneficial to its continued existence. I couldn't find any size extenders, just port extensions and one full-size SD card extender, so I jumped onto Tinkercad and here it is. This is a rough version as I just got it functional. The biggest challenge is that only a 2mm area of the card can be attached to anything since the Anet A8 board uses a spring-loaded SD slot, and only 2mm sticks out; you actually need just under 2mm in order to get the spring to activate. Right now, the fit is just very tight with the top bump mostly enclosed so that tension holds it in but it's not the best solution. If you don't use your micro-SD for anything but printing or don't ever plan to insert it into mobile devices a drop of super glue will do the trick. If you have a better idea, feel free to hit me up; this was more a boredom cure than anything, I'll finish cleaning up the look in the next day or so as it is a bit rough. Use supports for the micro SD slots unless your bridging is very good. I print with PETG at 220 and fan on full so I was able to get away with no supports; it's a small piece, so go 100% infill. I added in two micro SD holder slots to boost the "value." This thing was made with Tinkercad. Edit it online https://www.tinkercad.com/things/iKZpl9pqbPr
