microscope USB camera stand

thingiverse

Here is a simple stand to convert a low-cost USB 2.0 camera into a microscope for viewing tiny objects. I also use the mirrored version of the camera mount component as a way to attach the camera to the 20x20 aluminum extrusion of my 3D printer to observe bed clearance and extruder performance. The camera is available for less than AUD10.00 with free shipping from China, and has a ring to adjust focus down to around 50mm for this application. The support clip is discarded, and the ball-and-socket attachment of the bracket replaces it.
