I've built a custom microscope mount for my USB microscope, replacing the original one that wasn't accurate enough for me. I opted to use a worm drive for adjustments, inspired by this clever DIY microscope hack: http://www.hackerspace-ffm.de/wiki/index.php?title=DIY_Mikroskop The 10x and 60x magnifications work seamlessly with my microscope, but the 200x zoom is a bit shaky. I believe a stepper motor would greatly improve its stability.
