20 mm rheinberg, oblique illuminsation and dark field filters The dark field filter makes that only light that has crossed the sample enters the objective. This creates a dark background with bright objects. The rheinberg filter is like dark field filter but it changes the color instead. The oblique illumination filter illuminates the sample from one side, which creates a 3D effect. The filters must block the right amount of light depending on the magnification for the desired effect.
