# Microphone shockmount stand for BM-800 and clones. ## Backstory This stand was designed to replace the standard shockmount included with many Aliexpress BM-800 clones and similar microphones. The original mini tripod stand was too small in all dimensions, making it impractical to use. It was too short, causing the microphone with an XLR cable attached to tilt backwards unless adjusted. Additionally, the legs didn't extend far enough outward, resulting in the microphone tipping over frequently. ## 3D printer to the rescue! I created this mount using a 3D printer to utilize the included shockmount. The microphone rests at a higher position than the stock tripod and is more stable due to its circular base, which covers the microphone's center of gravity when mounted. You can pass the XLR cable through a hole in the base for a neat setup. The design also looks sleek, although this may be subjective. ## Customisable! The stand was built using OpenSCAD from scratch and is designed to be fully customizable. Currently, you can adjust two features: * Height: This refers to the height of the shockmount attachment hole, which seems more useful than the actual height at the tip. * Shockmount attachment type: + M5: Use GoPro-style thumb screws and a hex nut for this option. + M6: Utilize the included thumb screw and hex nut if you're not using the original tripod. ## P.D. I apologize for the color of the stand; I only have this filament available at the moment.
