Microphone Shock Mount for Ikea Lamp

Microphone Shock Mount for Ikea Lamp

Cleaned up and modified version of pdrengers's very good remix of marsCubed's original design that now fits directly on an Ikea Tertial lamp, allowing swivel and tilt functionality to still work without any additional hardware beyond rubber bands. Credit goes to milokp for the idea of mounting it directly on a lamp. I print with 3 perimeters, 3 top and bottom layers, and 25% infill in grey ABS. However, you can likely get away with less. I also use no supports, making it an easy print. First, cut and pull out wires from the lamp, then remove the globe base while retaining the bolts. Next, attach the new shock mount holder using the original bolts if they are long enough. Clean out any holes that need it with a drill or file, depending on your printer. Install star washes under the nuts inside the holder. If you need extra space, you can install the bolts backwards, but this will make them look ugly. Use rubber bands to create the web of your choice, and then install your microphone. Bonus: find a use for the original lamp holder and shade - perhaps as a hanging lamp or funnel?
