Microphone holder for Shure 520DX
thingiverse
The 520DX microphone is popular among harmonica players and some singers use it for special FX due to its unique mid-range tone; however, it lacks a mic stand mount and can be prone to falling off surfaces. To address this issue, a clip is available that securely holds the mic but allows easy removal. The mounting block features two holes: one for a 5/8"-to-3/8" adapter (for use with a mic stand) and another threaded for M8 (for alternative mounting locations). To assemble the mount, print the "520DX.stl" file, purchase a 3/8" thread adapter like K&M 217, and glue it into the large hole. Alternatively, follow more detailed instructions: open "520DX Outline.skp" in Sketchup, export as DXF ("520DX Outline.dxf"); open "520DX Shell.scad" in OpenSCAD to create the rotational body (exporting it as STL as "520DX Shell.stl"); then, open "520DX.scad" in OpenSCAD to import the rotational body and add the mounting block. Note that this process is complex due to OpenSCAD's rendering issues with the rotational shell, which is why the shell creation and post-production occur in separate SCAD files.
