Microphone cover for Flightcom GA headset
thingiverse
My dog, Oscar, made off with my aviation headsets. He zeroed in on the microphones, chomping down hard on them. Luckily, most of the internal components are still intact, so I needed to find new plastic casings that would house a compact PC board and a high-quality condenser microphone. Only complete microphones are available for purchase now, priced between $55 and $85 per unit. That's why I'm eager to find an alternative solution. Keep in mind that your wiring and connectors might differ from mine, so you may need to reconfigure how the wiring interacts with the mic. You can see half of the old black microphone in the pictures. I managed to 3D print a replacement part using PLA filament, and it works flawlessly. I recommend using the V2 file for better results. Wishing you smooth flying on your next adventure!
