Microphone Case (shotgun)
thingiverse
I required a protective case for a Sony shotgun mic. Repurposed a battery case large enough to incorporate padding inside and replicated threads on the body for an intermediate section as I have a limitation on Z height to address. One advantage of this design is it won't slide off the table. There are two options for the bottom, using a closed version or the open one in which case you have a plug to fit into it that can be glued padding to easily. The one version with no external feature is for an intermediate extension. You can modify the length of it easily in SketchUp to get the length right for your mic... or add a bunch and make a case for your fishing rod. I added a 4mm hole in the top cap for a lanyard. Cut a disc of 5mm neoprene for each end and a rectangle to fit wrapped around each end. The middle just floats free. Bubble wrap would work fine or some foam-backed fabric.
