Microphone and Flasher Combiner - clamp to Hotshoe
thingiverse
I've created this device because I often film and take photos simultaneously. The hotshoe area is occupied by my flash unit, leaving me with no way to attach my Rode Microphone. To address this issue, I designed this thing to clamp around the ring of a Canon 430ex flash (which might also work for other models). This ring has a diameter of 35 mm and a thickness of 4.6 mm. I've successfully attached it to my Canon EOS 100d, although it's a snug fit. For those interested in making this device themselves, I recommend checking out the video on how to attach it: https://youtu.be/P83v3kuFm80. Please let me know if it fits other flash units or cameras, so we can gather information for future users. To ensure optimal results when printing this part, it's best to print it flat with the ring facing down and the shoe facing up. This will provide sufficient strength to the clamping ring. As needed, place supports to maintain stability during the printing process – I found it necessary to add a few myself.
