Is it as good as a real metal mic stand? Honestly, not quite. The thread pitch is designed to be loose and coarse for maximum strength, but this means the clamping force isn't super high, leaving the caliper feeling slightly unsteady in its base. Still, it's solid enough to take accurate measurements with ease! For added security, try placing a small rubber pad on the clamp jaws' underside. Works like a charm for me.
