Microfossil - Cycloforina Karreri Karreri
sketchfab
Cycloforina karreri Karreri is classified within the phylum Foraminifera, a classification established by d'Orbigny in 1826. The class Tubothalamea was designated by Pawlowski, Holzmann, and Tyszka in 2013. Miliolida, an order of foraminiferans, was defined by Delage and Hérouard in 1896, with the suborder Miliolina also being described by these authors in the same year. The family Hauerinidae was introduced by Schwager in 1876, while the genus Cycloforina was identified by Łuczkowska in 1972. Cycloforina karreri Karreri is a species within this genus, with Reuss assigning it its name in 1869. This specimen was extracted from a sample obtained through borehole drilling in north-east Romania. The microfossil is attributed to the Middle Miocene geological era, dating back approximately 11 million years.
