Micro SD board for Ultimaker
thingiverse
I saved money by avoiding the $200 UltiController, which includes a display I didn't need. Instead, I bought a Micro SD board on eBay and connected it to the Ultimaker using these pins: 3.3V, GND, MISO(DO), MOSI(DI), SCLK, and SS. The side with "Waveshare" labels matched the EXP2 pins on the Ultimaker board. I used a grey 10-wire IDC cable connected to an IDC female plug for assembly, sourced from Makerbot support. Female plugs were purchased at Fry's Electronics. The setup displays gcode files in Printrun, but further testing is needed to print from the card. An adapter card is required if your computer lacks a Micro SD slot. A blank 4GB card was added to meet upload requirements, not being an image file.
