Micro Power Plant 1kW
grabcad
The installation of a 1kW powerplant on a watermill in France is underway. The turbine and gearbox are being repurposed from a Johnson Evinrude outboard motor, which originally produced 3 HP. With a diameter of 8 inches and pitch of 4 1/2 inches, the turbine is poised to generate significant energy. Water flowing at approximately 200 liters per second will be funneled over a height difference of 1.2 meters, harnessing its kinetic energy. The output voltage of 14V and current of 75A are being directed towards loading batteries for energy storage. In parallel, a 1kW converter is set to supply 220V to the home's electrical system, ensuring a seamless transition from renewable to grid power. Future designs will eliminate the need for modifications to wooden doors, enabling the integration of an asynchronous generator connected directly to the power grid, streamlining the overall setup.
