Micro Catapult

Micro Catapult

I was inspired to re-design and enhance the desktop, micro catapult after seeing a Stratasys sample print. I designed this model to throw small bits of paper, chunks of raft, and pretty much anything you can fit inside. You can select your ammunition and throw it around 2 meters, making it easy to hit unsuspecting victims at another desk! This Print-In-Place model doesn't require any support material, allowing it to take advantage of the material properties. The material itself flexes and stores energy, eliminating the need for external parts or hardware. I was impressed to discover that the ABS/PC I printed it in didn't break or retain a memory from being fired over 100 times. For best results, print this model at around 0.25mm resolution using ABS. Keep in mind that cooling of the neck can be challenging, so make sure your cooling fans are on full blast or consider printing two models simultaneously. If you need a left-handed version, simply mirror or scale the design by -1 in the X-axis to get it right.
