The BBC today unveiled the BBC micro:bit– a pocket-sized computer that empowers kids to unleash their creativity with technology. Through a groundbreaking partnership with 28 organizations, up to 1 million micro:bits will be distributed for free to every 11 or 12-year-old child in year 7 or equivalent across the UK. MyMiniFactory is proud to be part of this initiative. We're showcasing how 3D printing and open-source design can be combined with the micro:bit to create innovative products. On our platform, students will find printable cases for the micro:bit that they can print themselves in class. We'll also host competitions and campaigns to encourage school kids to engage with CAD software and 3D printing. You can download the first versions of the cases and clips here. The micro:bit Clip is designed specifically for schools to 3D print in their classrooms, supporting free access to this technology. This open clip accommodates the micro:bit computer chip and battery that the BBC will provide to schools across the UK. With a print time under 30 minutes, schools can load multiple STL files onto a build plate and print them out in batches, making it easy for students to create and learn.
