Micro AEG gearbox (airsoft)

Does your RC combat robot need a weapon? Or maybe you've built a tank or sentry turret.

Sure, you could repurpose a cheap BB gun, or you could have a go at printing your own.

By all standards, this is a pretty bad BB launcher. It achieves a measly 25FPS (7.8m/s), over ten times lower than a proper airsoft gun. So you won't want to actually use it in any sort of competitive environment.

Despite it's relatively poor performance, it could still be dangerous to peoples eyes, so take care.

Non-printable hardware:

N20 gear motor. I used a 100RPM 6V one

Two m3x15 nuts and bolts

rubber band

If you don't have ammo you can print some pellets from the included STL.

This is just a prototype unit and doesn't have an ammo hopper, so it's more of an "EG" than an "AEG" at the moment. If I think of a way to increase the velocity I may put some effort into making the loader.

Inspecting the launcher revealed some wear on the teeth caused by the pinion going around a little too fast and catching on the rack before the rack is all the way back, so there are some clear improvements that can be made to improve performance.

AFAIK this falls under the same category as the myriad of "disk launcher" models here on thingiverse, so with luck it should be allowable under the content policy.

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ceF-oKmBak"></oembed>

Category: R/C Vehicles
