Michelangelo's Pietà, detail of Mary
thingiverse
The Metropolitan Museum of Art's © 1982 copyright inscription adorns this 3D capture, which is crafted from a marble resin cast molded directly from the Pietà. The back label reveals that the Vatican Museums authorized the facsimile copy under the supervision of Metropolitan Museum of Art's Reproduction Studio. Direct impressions were made using molds developed by Vatican Museums' Department of Scientific Research. This faithful digital copy may be the most accurate public model until a Vatican 3D survey is released, if ever. However, the museum's copyright notice on Michelangelo's work raises concerns about public domain access. Cosmo Wenman shares his 3D capture and invites inquiries for bronze and stainless steel casts; he expresses gratitude to Tatjana, Ronald, Mushogenshin, and Hiro for their assistance in the project, which was made using Project Memento, ZBrush, and Blender.
