Mic Windscreen for AT BP4025

These files are my attempt to create a compact "blimp" style windscreen for the excellent Audio Technica BP4025 Stereo Microphone. __NOTE: It works but I haven't thoroughly tested it for frequency response or phase problems. YMMV__\r\n\r\nThe design is inspired by the highly effective Rycote Baby Ball Gag windscreen (a roughly 100mm sphere with fine mesh screen to isolate the mic from wind turbulence). I wanted something rugged that fits the mic perfectly and can be left attached when I stuff it in a bag. For higher wind situations, my design is also compatible with the Rycote furry Windjammer for the BBG (or you can make your own with fur from the fabric store). \r\n\r\n__Overview:__\r\n- Print with support, then carefully remove it since there are internal features that might tear out. You'll end up with more support than part!\r\n- Check the back half to see if it fits the mic body. (It should slide on from the front). Sanding will probably be needed. There are notches to clear the pad and HPF switches, and a third notch to mark the top of the mic. There are internal shoulders so it won't slide on too far, and tabs on the top and bottom to help support the windscreen.\r\n- The front and back should be lined with thin foam, fine mesh, or similar material. I'm still experimenting to find the best option that blocks the wind without hurting the sound.\r\n- After lining is applied, glue the front and back together (sorry, no fancy locking tabs or threads)\r\n- I wanted my mic to be really compact, so I removed the brass handle and replaced it with a shorter 3D printed one (BP4025 short tube.stl). It's a bit larger in diameter than the original tube, but it fits well into my shockmount and it packs smaller. (No drilling or soldering is required, and you can re-use the existing screws.)\r\n- To attach the windscreen, just slide it onto the mic. Then go outside and record!\r\n\r\n__Notes:__\r\n- All design files are included. It's made in FreeCAD 0.18\r\n- I printed in PLA on a Wanhao Duplicator i3 with 0.2mm resolution. It would probably look better at 0.1mm, but I'm not picky.\r\n
