This shock mount is for theSamson Q2U microphone. I saw some other designs that used hair bands to locate the mic body. I was intrigued to try that for myself. I found the mounting rings a bit clumsy, therefore I designed my own.

As you may be able to see on one of the pictures, I originally designed the ring for 5 hair bands, but found that I only needed 2 to hold the mic in place, even vertically. What does help is that the hair bands are of the extra gripy kind. Therefore the final design of the ring has only 4 pins for two hair bands.

I designed the connector beam so that the mic is well supported, without loss of access to the controls. I reused the base of the original mic holder to provide a screw mount to a standard mic stand. It might even be able to give you that extra height missing from the original included stand.

The design is done withOpenSCAD and the file is included, if you desire to mod the parts.

I printed in PETG as that was what I had on hand. The beam is a press fit into the rings.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3 Pro

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

200

Infill:

15% CubicSubDiv

Filament: EconoFil PETG Blue

Notes:

I used Ultimaker Cura as slicer with standard 0.2 mm layer height.
No support was needed.
Nozzle temp 235 oC; Bed temp 75 oC.

Category: Audio
