I built this gadget to push my piston rings evenly into the piston cylinder so I could measure their gaps accurately. It's also handy after installing a new piston ring, as you can insert it and pull the ring firmly against the tool from inside the bore. My engine block has 83.5mm bored holes, which means this device should work just fine for an 84mm bore as well. My Mazda MX-5 Miata is a '94 model with a 1.8L engine. I didn't want to force some old piston into my freshly machined block multiple times, so I created this tool instead. Feel free to enjoy it!
