So I've been on the hunt for a secondary cupholder to use when my co-pilot is away. After checking out other designs, I tried a few but didn't like them. I then went looking and found the perfect cupholder - one that folds up when not in use, takes up minimal space, and holds everything from Red Bull to Big Gulp. It's also built to last. Since the existing designs weren't working for me, I decided to adapt them myself. However, they just didn't cut it, so I took a little inspiration from one of them and came up with the recessed screw point design. When mounted snugly against the center console, I thought, why not use the bottom edge instead of going up and over to stabilize? So, I measured it out and added a tab to stabilize against the bottom edge rather than the top. I'll be the first to admit that my Miata is waiting for a new top replacement, so I haven't been able to test it out in practice yet. But it looks great right now. For printing, I recommend using a flat orientation with the recessed side up and no supports. I did add one layer to the screw hole to allow for easy reaming and printing of the bridge. For newbies, this is a trick to print overhangs without ending up with a messy situation. Since it's not printing a hole in mid-air, it will turn out nicely. When it comes to materials, I used ABS, as car temperatures require ABS, ASA, or PC. I also had to trim the included screws down to 10mm so they wouldn't continue through and damage the car. Edit: While the original design worked perfectly forward, it would sometimes tilt backwards. So, I took another look and accounted for a bit of curve in the center console's edge at the mounting point. Now, it's rock-solid both ways.
