What is it? These are tools designed to simplify the process of installing new camshaft seals on Miata engines. How do I use this tool? Print the part with a sturdy build; I typically use around 30-40% infill with PLA material. Read the service manual for your car and follow the instructions to prepare the seal and bore. Place the tool against the seal, install the bolt, and slowly tighten it to push the seal evenly into the bore. Keep a close eye on the seal as it needs to go in straight. Due to printing tolerances, the driver may tilt while in use, so keep an eye on all sides of the seal as you drive it in. It can also be used with gentle taps of a hammer to straighten things out if they become crooked. Warning! This tool won't stop at the proper distance; it's up to you to make sure you only push the seal in until it's flush! Read the service manual carefully. What's this tool for? These tools should work on all 1.6L and 1.8L BP engines. The shorter cam seal driver is designed for Exhaust cams on all ('90-'05) Miata models, as well as Intake cams on non-VVT ('90-'00) models. The longer VVT seal driver is used for installing the VVT intake cam seal on applicable ('01-'05) models. These installers may also work on other engines using the BP engine design, like certain Ford Escorts and 1st gen Kia Sephias. Possibly other clones of the BP engine like the Kia T8D in 2nd gen Sephia/Spectras. Anything else? I created these tools since I'm rebuilding my NB2 engine and decided to make them instead of buying some and waiting forever for them to arrive. I used measurements from my engine and seals to design these tools, and I hope someone else finds them useful!
