MG MGB Battery Hold Down

MG MGB Battery Hold Down

I wasn't thrilled with the crusty, soggy wood spacer and metal rod that served as my '74 MGB's battery hold down, so I printed out a new one using PETG. I added "12 Volt Negative Earth" to it to make sure there was no ambiguity about polarity. I really like this setup because the PETG won't absorb water (or battery acid for that matter) and eliminates the metal rod that crossed over the battery - which is a huge plus in my book. My battery is a 12-volt Group Size 26R, and the hold down's width was designed to fit snugly between the cell caps. I also made sure it reaches across the battery the same distance as the original metal rod. The height of the new hold down accommodates the limit of threads on the side rods - since my old batteries had different dimensions. To make the text stand out, I used a blue crayon to fill in the details for better visibility.
