MG Chemicals bottle cap Brush Insert
thingiverse
I'm going to mount the included brush into the cap of MG chemicals' 55mL bottles using a simple and quick 3D print. The bottle I have is for silicone modified conformal coating, which I needed to apply. MG chemicals used to ship this type of coating with a brush integrated into the cap, but they've since changed their approach. Now, they supply two external brushes that need to be applied separately. I'm not sure why they made this change, as it makes storing the brushes difficult and causes them to dry out and harden after use. To make this modification, simply print one of the .stl files that match your 3D printer's specifications. The .stl file I used printed perfectly with my printer, but the inner diameter was a bit too small. To accommodate this issue, I've included two different .stl files - one with the correct nominal size and another with a 0.4mm larger hole. Next, remove the small paper disc inside the cap (you might be able to fit the print snugly on top of it if you prefer) and secure it down using superglue. Then, add a few drops of superglue into the hole and insert the brush. Once that's done, your modification is complete. I took it a step further by applying hotglue between the inner and outer layers of the cap to disable the child-proof lock and make the brush more stiff so it doesn't rock around when in use.
