MG-15 V2
thingiverse
A while back, I created a model of the base weapon used to manufacture the RT-97c blaster as seen in Star Wars: A New Hope and many other places since! I was still learning OnShape, 3D modeling, and printing at that time, so I made a lot of mistakes that I wouldn't make today if I were starting the project from scratch. Since I needed to print one for myself, I decided to revisit the design and make some improvements. The major changes include: - Parts are cut differently to make them easier to print with minimal support. - The barrel is hollow now, rather than solid with recesses. - It now requires a 1/2" dowel for the center of the barrel. - Overall improvements have been made to the fit of the parts - less sanding is required! - The magazine is now angled instead of sitting flat. Still on my to-do list are: - Strap mounts for the top of the magazine - Instructions!!! Some random notes: - I printed the rear bakelite section in wood PLA, to try to emulate the look of the original material. - I'm not sure how sturdy this will be... I don't recommend dropping it!!
