Methane - CH4
sketchfab
Carbon forms black, Hydrogen forms white. In this model, covalent molecular bonding is depicted with Methane. Three Methane molecules are shown, and intermolecular bonding is omitted to display its weakness compared to strong covalent intramolecular bonding between Hydrogen and Carbon atoms. Methane is a non-polar molecule because the tetrahedral structure balances charge. Hydrogen and Carbon do not have a large difference in charge. This model clearly represents where intramolecular bonds are within the molecule, but it's slightly inaccurate in real molecules. The model doesn't depict actual size, but displays elements' format correctly. It also doesn't show the real amount of molecules or their spacing.
