NARRATIVE: The 3D printing industry is revolutionizing manufacturing by enabling complex design possibilities, paving the way for a brighter future. This cutting-edge technology is being celebrated in the design of the 3D printing industry awards trophy. MANUFACTURING PROCESS: The trophy consists of two intricately designed parts: one created using SLA and the other using MJF. The SLA part sits seamlessly inside the MJF part, resulting in a sleek and unified finish. The MJF part showcases its versatility by featuring smooth finishes, lattice work, and textured surfaces, all made possible with this innovative process. Similarly, the SLA part is designed to exhibit various finishes, including a glossy glass-like surface, internal lattice work, and microfeatures. Traditionally, creating such intricate designs was a laborious task, but with advancements in 3D printing technology, manufacturing these designs has become effortless. FINISH: The base will be printed using MJF, with the option to choose from various natural finishes, including black. However, considering the prestigious nature of the award ceremony, vibrant colors like white would add visual appeal for photography purposes. Protolab offers a range of finishing options for 3D printed parts, allowing the MJF part to be finished in white for an enhanced visual experience. Alternatively, the SLA part can be finished in golden yellow, while leaving the MJF part at its natural finish.
