Metallic 3D printing
thingiverse
This is a technique for manufacturing metallic components using your 3D printer.\nIt's actually quite straightforward. Instead of printing your model, create a mold of the model using ABS plastic (ABS can be easily dissolved using acetone).\nNext, melt some lower-temperature alloy (usually a lead-based alloy with a melting point lower than ABS) and fill the mold.\nFinally, remove the ABS using acetone. This process may take some time, but you will end up with a metallic part instead of a plastic one.\nFor more information and a detailed guide, check out my website: http://frax3d.com/en/metal-casting-3d-printed-abs-molds-to-be-dissolved-with-acetone\nIn this example, you can see a Pikachu downloaded from Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:376601)
