I'm just a mock-up of a metal lowrider CNC, not even finished or made yet. My question is why nobody's building this? I love CNCs and one day I'll have my own. The problem is that my cheap Chinese one never worked out for me - it was the only affordable option available. I'm seriously baffled by how they can sell those things so cheaply. Anyway, I'm always on the lookout for making my own or buying a good deal. That's when I stumbled upon the LowRider CNC and it blew me away! I've been researching it and thinking about printing one up, but first I need to get the pricing right. The $200 hardware parts from V1 are almost as cheap as you can get anywhere else for all the necessary items. However, printed parts aren't very strong - even people assembling CNCs break them sometimes. The concept is straightforward, so why not build a metal one for nearly the same price? Maybe printing supporting parts to ensure better alignment would be a good idea. It's really just three plates, two angles, and pillow blocks - you've almost got yourself a CNC right there! Don't worry, I'll put in more time on this project. My goal is to have most of my parts sourced from Aliexpress if possible, making this the cheapest CNC anyone can build.
