I created a model based on Metal Mickey, the iconic character from an 80s UK TV show. As you can see, I kept it small, leaving out some of the finer details to make it more manageable. The default scale is already quite low, but don't worry about scaling it up - your Ultimaker 2+ should have no problem handling it.
