Metal Edge Protector
thingiverse
When cutting sheet metal, the resulting edge can be quite abrasive to nearby wiring, even after filing down the edges. To mitigate this issue, a common practice is to shroud the edge with a grommet or some similar protective covering. A purpose-built edge protector has been designed and 3D printed in such a way that it flexes across three adjacent straight metal edges. This protector clips onto the 1mm sheet metal edge and features three edge dimensions: 16 + 26 + 16mm. A photo can help illustrate how these three sides hinge together. The design is specific to my needs, but I've included the Fusion 360 file so that you can customize the edge lengths to suit your requirements. My print was made using PETG 1.75mm Aurarum black filament with a 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a PRUSA I3 MK3S printer.
