Metal Detecting Headphone Endcaps
thingiverse
Restoring my trusted Joan Allen "Prophones" metal detecting headphones, a process that brought back fond memories. The endcaps on the headband had deteriorated over time, forcing me to take action. To ensure a secure fit, I used M2x12 screws and nuts, switching from self-tappers as they did in the original design. While some might hide these elements for aesthetics, I opted not to conceal them, ensuring that both halves remain identical. These refurbished parts are slightly bulkier than their predecessors, offering added strength through judicious printing with a 100% fill in PLA. Printing on my Mini Fabrikator, which boasts new steppers, the finished pieces exhibit a vibrant orange hue, thanks to an opportunistic use of materials on hand - a simple yet practical solution for a job that doesn't require extravagant presentation when venturing out into the field of metal detecting.
