16 Psyche is one of the ten largest asteroids in the asteroid belt. It measures over 200 kilometers in diameter and contains less than 1% of the mass of the entire asteroid belt. It's believed to be the exposed iron core of a protoplanet, making it the most massive metallic M-type asteroid. The scene is set to render with identical results as the preview images when you press the render button. No post-production is applied to the previews. In reality, the metal asteroid measures over 200 kilometers in diameter. However, in the 3D scene, its dimensions are scaled down to 152.6m x 142m x 152.8m meters, resulting in an average diameter of approximately 150 meters. No third-party plugins are used. High-quality textures (8k) are applied to ensure a detailed and realistic appearance. Model details are achieved primarily through the use of displacement modifiers and TurboSmooth, providing flexibility to adjust the look and polycount as needed. Subdivision is set to 4 at render time, resulting in 24 million polygons during rendering. For scanline versions, subdivision is reduced to 3, reducing the polygon count to approximately 3k. The model and provided maps can be easily recreated in other software or rendered with a different engine by taking advantage of the OBJ format, which includes two versions of the asteroid model: one with ~49k polygons and another with ~3k polygons.
