This adaptable support system is designed to assist individuals who have lost hand function, securely fastening over the metacarpal area of the hand through a clamping mechanism. A versatile pen holder feature allows for the accommodation of various pens, with adjustable angle settings that facilitate ease of use. This innovative design also serves as an effective typing aid. The Ziptie splint variant enables users to attach larger objects such as kitchen tools, including heavy-duty appliances like stand mixers, providing a more substantial support system. Specifically tailored for knife functionality, the Knife splint allows individuals to utilize a knife with ease. However, it's essential to note that heavy cutting pressure is not yet fully supported. A helpful tip: if excessive tension occurs, users can carefully relieve it by heating the splint gently with a heat gun. This support system has been designed and rigorously tested in conjunction with patients at the University Hospital Gent (UZ-Gent). Various sizes of this support system will be available soon.
