The first spacecraft to orbit Mercury, MESSENGER, carved a unique path through the inner solar system with a flyby of Earth, two flybys of Venus, and three flybys of Mercury under its belt. Launched on August 3, 2004, the MESSENGER mission is set to conclude on April 30, 2015, with a dramatic impact into the planet Mercury's surface.
