Mess-free Stick Incense Burner
thingiverse
I love stick incense, but I despise the mess it leaves behind, and most burners just aren't visually appealing. To solve this problem, I repurposed an old carbon fibre bike seat post that was collecting dust in my garage. The ash drops into the base of the burner, which can be easily emptied through a convenient opening that also allows for airflow throughout the base and up the pipe. This design should work seamlessly with any non-flammable pipe that has a 1.25 inch (32mm) outside diameter. Given that I used a relatively low-temperature plastic (PLA), I added some aluminum foil to the top of the center post as an extra precautionary measure - just in case the 'cherry' broke off and became wedged between the pipe and the post. However, please exercise your own judgment when using this design, and consider printing with a high-temperature filament for optimal results. I printed the burner without any supports, at a height of .2mm, and used Cura Fuzzy Skin settings to achieve a smooth finish. Unfortunately, there is some stringing visible inside the chamber and around the opening, but these photos are direct from the printer - no post-processing has been applied.
