The Siberian reindeer moth, also known as Mesotopus tarandus, is a species of moth found in Russia and other parts of Northern Europe. Adult moths have a distinctive appearance, with gray or brown wings featuring white spots and stripes. They are most active at night, flying in search of nectar-rich flowers to feed on. The Siberian reindeer moth typically emerges from hibernation in late spring and early summer, when temperatures begin to rise above freezing. During this time, males engage in intense competition for mating rights with females, which lay their eggs on the underside of leaves.
