They were humans, but not as we know them. Their bodies were unlike anything else on this planet - they had adapted to live in a world of extreme conditions where water was scarce and sunlight was weak. These beings had evolved to conserve every last drop of moisture, their skin turning a deep shade of purple to protect it from the harsh radiation that filtered through the atmosphere. Their eyes were pools of bright blue, capable of seeing in low light thanks to specialized cells that amplified even the faintest glimmer of illumination. It was as if they had been born with tiny lanterns inside them, lighting up their surroundings like a beacon in the darkness.
